The Design 4 Democracy Coalition serves as a coordination mechanism between groups of democracy and human rights organizations around the world that are working at the forefront of technology and democracy issues. The diverse Coalition is united in a shared commitment that technology platforms and products help build a more just and democratic world, and the Coalition brings together the concerns of our community for action to these platforms.
We partner with the leading tech companies to provide tools and services for our members, and we act on member concerns to make sure tech companies are working for democracy.
We coordinate with organizations, academics, and civic tech across the globe working on similar themes to share knowledge, tools, and resources for greater impact.
We create innovative programs together to counter disinformation, provide cybersecurity trainings, and create civic tech and an open internet for more democratic societies.
Preparing Stakeholders in Advance of Elections in Ukraine
The D4D Coalition engaged in a training-of-trainers on cybersecurity assessments that enabled future audits of at-risk political parties and civic organizations to occur across the post-Soviet region. While in the Ukraine, the Coalition also met with stakeholders about cybersecurity and disinformation threats in Eastern Europe. A cybersecurity workshop, based off this D4D resource, was held for 33 representatives of 10 political parties to better secure the digital political environment in the lead up to Ukraine’s 2019 elections.
